Artaxerxes
Artaxerxes was a name shared by several kings of the ancient Persian Empire, most notably Artaxerxes I, who reigned from 465 to 424 BCE. He is remembered for his efforts to maintain stability in a vast empire, managing relations with various Greek city-states and dealing with internal revolts. His reign is also notable for the biblical connections, particularly in the Book of Ezra, where he is mentioned as a ruler who supported the rebuilding of Jerusalem. Artaxerxes I is often characterized by his diplomatic approaches and significant contributions to Persian art and architecture.
