Wahhabism
Wahhabism is a conservative religious movement within Sunni Islam, founded in the 18th century by Muhammad ibn Abdul Wahhab in what is now Saudi Arabia. It emphasizes a strict interpretation of Islamic teachings, focusing on the oneness of God (tawhid) and rejecting practices seen as innovations (bid'ah) or idolatry (shirk). Wahhabism promotes a return to what its followers consider the purest form of Islam, closely adhering to the Quran and Hadith. It has significantly influenced Saudi Arabia’s religious policies and has been associated with various political and social movements in the Muslim world.
