Abdulaziz (previous Sultan)

Abdulaziz was the Sultan of the Ottoman Empire from 1861 until his deposition in 1876. Known for his modernization efforts, he sought to reform the military and administration, adopting Western technologies and practices. However, his reign saw financial difficulties and rising discontent among various groups, including the military and nationalists. In 1876, he was forced to abdicate and was succeeded by his brother, Murad V. Abdulaziz's legacy is mixed; while he attempted to modernize the empire, his rule faced significant challenges that highlighted the complexities of the Ottoman state during a period of significant change.
