Vitreomacular traction

Vitreomacular traction occurs when the gel-like substance inside the eye, called the vitreous, pulls on the macula, the small central area of the retina responsible for detailed vision. This can happen as part of the natural aging process or due to other eye conditions. The pulling can cause distortion in vision, such as blurriness or wavy lines, and in some cases, may lead to more serious problems like retinal damage. Treatment options vary, depending on the severity, and may include observation, medications, or surgery to relieve the traction.
