Epiretinal membrane

An epiretinal membrane is a thin layer of fibrous tissue that forms on the surface of the retina, the light-sensitive layer at the back of the eye. This membrane can cause visual distortions, blurriness, or even vision loss by pulling on the retina or disrupting its function. It often develops as a result of aging, though it can also be associated with eye injuries or diseases. While not always requiring treatment, severe cases might need surgical intervention to improve vision. Regular eye exams are crucial for early detection and management.
