Macular Pucker
Macular pucker occurs when a thin layer of tissue, called the epiretinal membrane, forms on the retina's surface, particularly over the macula, which is vital for sharp vision. This tissue can tighten and wrinkle, leading to blurred or distorted vision. Symptoms often include visual distortion, difficulty reading, or seeing straight lines as wavy. It can develop due to aging, retinal tears, or other eye conditions. While some people may not require treatment, others may benefit from surgery to remove the membrane and restore clearer vision. Regular eye exams can help monitor the condition.
