Pseudophakia

Pseudophakia refers to the condition where the natural lens of the eye has been replaced with an artificial lens, typically after cataract surgery. The artificial lens, called an intraocular lens (IOL), restores clear vision by replacing the cloudy or damaged natural lens. This procedure helps improve eyesight and reduce dependence on glasses. Pseudophakia is a common and effective treatment, allowing the eye to function normally after the removal of the cataract. The term distinguishes this from the natural state of the eye (phakia), indicating that an artificial lens is now present.
