Vitreomacular adhesion
Vitreomacular adhesion occurs when the gel-like substance inside the eye, called the vitreous, remains abnormally attached to the central retina area known as the macula. Normally, the vitreous fluid detaches naturally with age, but in this condition, it stays stuck, which can cause visual distortions or blurred vision. This adhesion may sometimes lead to further problems, such as pulling on the retina or developing holes, which can affect vision. It is often monitored by eye specialists to determine if treatment is needed to prevent or manage any vision issues.
