Versailles commonly refers to the Palace of Versailles, a grand royal residence located just outside Paris, France. Built in the 17th century for King Louis XIV, it symbolizes the absolute monarchy of the Ancien Régime. The palace is famous for its stunning architecture, beautiful gardens, and extensive art collections. In 1919, the Treaty of Versailles was also signed here, officially ending World War I and imposing various conditions on Germany.
