Louis IV of France

Louis IV, also known as Louis the Stammerer, was King of West Francia from 877 until his death in 879. He was the son of Charles the Bald and inherited a fragmented kingdom after the Carolingian Empire's decline. Despite his speech impediment, he aimed to unify and strengthen his realm. His reign was marked by struggles against local nobles and Viking incursions. Louis IV's short rule ended when he died young, leaving a legacy of further division in France. He was the first king to use the title "King of France," reflecting a growing sense of French identity.
