Louis XIV of France

Louis XIV, known as the Sun King, was the King of France from 1643 to 1715. He is famous for centralizing power and embodying absolute monarchy, where he ruled without significant checks on his authority. His reign saw the expansion of French territory and culture, with efforts to promote arts and architecture, exemplified by the grandeur of the Palace of Versailles. Louis XIV's policies, however, also led to increased taxation and military conflicts, contributing to financial strains in France. His long reign significantly influenced European politics and set a standard for future monarchs.
