Vasa Dynasty
The Vasa Dynasty was a royal family that ruled Sweden from the early 16th century until the late 17th century. It began with Gustav I Vasa, who united Sweden and established its independence from Denmark. The dynasty is known for significant developments in Sweden, including strengthening the monarchy, promoting Protestantism, and expanding territorial control. Notable kings include Gustavus Adolphus, famous for his military leadership during the Thirty Years' War. The Vasa era contributed to Sweden’s emergence as a major European power, influencing its political and cultural landscape. The dynasty ended when the last king, Charles II, died without heirs.
