The Seven Years' War (1756-1763) was a global conflict involving many of the world's great powers, often considered the first "world war." It primarily pitted Britain and its allies against France and Spain. The war arose from ongoing colonial and territorial disputes, especially in North America and Europe. Key battles occurred in Europe, the Caribbean, India, and North America (known there as the French and Indian War). The conflict concluded with significant territorial changes, weakening France and bolstering Britain’s global dominance, ultimately setting the stage for future conflicts and shaping modern geopolitics.
