Fort Duquesne
Fort Duquesne was a strategic military outpost established by the French in the mid-1750s, located at the confluence of the Allegheny and Monongahela rivers in present-day Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It played a significant role in the French and Indian War, as both British and French forces sought control over the Ohio River Valley. In 1758, the British captured the fort and renamed it Fort Pitt, marking a turning point in the conflict and contributing to British dominance in North America. The site is now recognized for its historical importance and is a landmark in Pittsburgh.
