French and Indian War

The French and Indian War (1754-1763) was a conflict between Britain and France in North America, part of a larger global struggle known as the Seven Years' War. Both nations sought to expand their territories and control trade, leading to tensions with Native American tribes and among colonial settlers. The war primarily involved battles over land in the Ohio River Valley. Britain emerged victorious, gaining significant territorial claims, but the war strained British finances, leading to increased taxes on American colonies and ultimately setting the stage for the American Revolution.
