Swara
Swara, in the context of music, refers to the distinct musical notes used in Indian classical music. Each swara represents a specific pitch and has a unique emotional quality. The seven basic swaras are Sa, Re, Ga, Ma, Pa, Dha, and Ni, which correspond to the Western scale’s C, D, E, F, G, A, and B. Together, these notes form ragas, which are melodic frameworks that evoke various moods and feelings. Swara is fundamental to the composition and performance of music, allowing for creativity and expression within the rich tradition of Indian music.
