
Allauddin Khan
Allauddin Khan was a renowned Indian classical musician, composer, and maestro, celebrated for his mastery of several instruments, particularly the sarod. Born in 1881 in Bengal, he was instrumental in the revival and popularization of Indian classical music in the 20th century. He founded the Maihar Gharana, which influenced many musicians. As a teacher, he mentored notable artists, including Pandit Ravi Shankar and Ustad Ali Akbar Khan. His contributions extended beyond performance, as he enriched musical education and blended traditional and contemporary styles, leaving a lasting impact on Indian music. Allauddin Khan passed away in 1972.
