Raghunath Rao (Raghoba)
Raghunath Rao, commonly known as Raghoba, was an important figure in Indian history during the 18th century. He served as a general and had significant influence within the Maratha Empire. Notably, Raghoba played a pivotal role in the power struggles following the death of the Maratha leader, Baji Rao I. He sought to strengthen his position by attempting to become the Peshwa (prime minister) of the Marathas but faced opposition. His ambitions led to internal conflicts and alliances with European powers, particularly the British. His actions were instrumental in shaping the political landscape of India during that period.
