Peshwa Baji Rao I was a prominent leader of the Maratha Empire in India during the early 18th century. Born in 1700, he became the Peshwa (prime minister) at the age of 20 and is known for his military prowess and administrative skills. He expanded the empire significantly, conducting successful campaigns against various rivals, including the Mughals, and extending Maratha influence across much of India. His era marked a peak in Maratha power, fostering cultural growth and centralizing governance. Baji Rao I's legacy includes establishing the Peshwa as a key political figure in Indian history. He passed away in 1740.
