Prokaryotic Cell Structure
Prokaryotic cells, such as bacteria, are simple and single-celled organisms. They lack a nucleus, meaning their genetic material floats freely in the cell. Their structure includes a cell membrane that surrounds the cell, a rigid cell wall for protection, and ribosomes for protein synthesis. Some prokaryotes have flagella or pili for movement and attachment. Unlike complex cells (eukaryotes), prokaryotes do not have organelles like mitochondria or chloroplasts. Their simplicity enables them to reproduce quickly and adapt to various environments, playing vital roles in ecosystems and human health.
