Nucleoid
A nucleoid is a region inside a prokaryotic cell, such as bacteria, where the cell’s genetic material—its DNA—is located. Unlike eukaryotic cells, which have a nucleus enclosed by a membrane, the nucleoid isn't enclosed by a membrane. Instead, the DNA is organized and packed within the cytoplasm, allowing the cell to regulate gene expression and DNA replication efficiently. The nucleoid plays a crucial role in storing and managing the cell’s genetic information, helping the microorganism grow, reproduce, and respond to its environment.
