Polygenic Traits

Polygenic traits are characteristics influenced by multiple genes rather than a single gene. These traits often display a wide range of variations, such as height, skin color, or intelligence. Each gene contributes a small amount to the overall trait, and environmental factors can also play a role. Because of this complexity, polygenic traits do not exhibit simple dominant or recessive patterns like some single-gene traits. Instead, people may fall anywhere along a continuum, creating a rich diversity in traits within a population.
