Trait heritability

Trait heritability refers to the proportion of variation in a trait, such as height or intelligence, that can be attributed to genetic differences among individuals in a specific population. It's expressed as a value between 0 and 1, where 0 means genes have no effect on the trait, and 1 means all variation is due to genetics. Importantly, heritability does not determine whether a trait can be changed or influenced by environment; it simply indicates the genetic contribution to differences in that trait. Thus, both genes and environment play a role in shaping individual characteristics.
