adoption studies

Adoption studies are research methods used to understand the influence of genetics and environment on behavior and traits. By comparing adopted children to their biological and adoptive parents, researchers can assess how much of a trait (like intelligence or personality) is inherited versus shaped by upbringing. If adopted children resemble their biological parents more than their adoptive ones, it suggests a genetic influence. Conversely, if they resemble their adoptive parents, it indicates environmental factors play a larger role. These studies provide valuable insights into the interplay between heredity and environment in shaping who we are.
