Pembrolizumab

Pembrolizumab is a type of cancer treatment known as an immune checkpoint inhibitor. It helps the body's immune system recognize and attack cancer cells more effectively. Normally, cancer cells can evade immune detection by activating certain pathways that suppress immune responses. Pembrolizumab blocks one of these pathways, called PD-1, restoring the immune system's ability to identify and destroy cancer cells. It is used to treat various cancers, including melanoma, lung cancer, and others, by boosting the body's natural defenses against the disease.
