Otolith organs
Otolith organs are part of the inner ear, specifically involved in our sense of balance and spatial orientation. They contain tiny structures called otoliths, or "ear stones," made of calcium carbonate. These stones move with head movements and gravity, helping the brain understand the position of the head relative to the body and the environment. This information is crucial for maintaining balance, coordinating movements, and understanding motion. The otolith organs work together with other parts of the inner ear to ensure we can stand, walk, and perform daily activities smoothly.
