Inner ear
The inner ear, also known as the labyrinth, is a crucial part of your auditory and balance systems. It contains the cochlea, which converts sound vibrations into electrical signals sent to your brain, allowing you to hear. It also includes the vestibular system, made up of semicircular canals and otolith organs, which detect head movements and position, helping maintain balance and spatial orientation. These structures are filled with fluid and tiny hair cells that respond to movement and sound. The inner ear works seamlessly with other parts of the nervous system to keep you aware of your environment and help you stay balanced.
