Aqueductus vestibuli
The aqueductus vestibuli, also known as the vestibular aqueduct, is a narrow canal in the inner ear connecting the vestibule (a central chamber involved in balance) to the inside of the skull. It helps transmit fluids related to hearing and balance from the inner ear to the brain. Proper function is essential for maintaining equilibrium and normal hearing. Abnormalities or enlargement of this aqueduct can lead to balance issues or hearing problems, commonly associated with conditions like hearing loss or Meniere's disease.
