Olympic Lifting

Olympic lifting refers to two specific weightlifting movements performed in competitive settings: the clean and jerk, and the snatch. In the clean and jerk, a lifter first lifts the barbell to their shoulders (the clean) and then lifts it overhead (the jerk). In the snatch, the barbell is lifted from the ground directly overhead in one fluid motion. These lifts emphasize strength, speed, and technique, and require both physical conditioning and skill. Olympic lifting is featured in the Olympic Games and is known for its ability to develop overall athleticism and power.
