Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) are a diverse group of infectious diseases that primarily affect impoverished communities in tropical and subtropical regions. They include illnesses like dengue, schistosomiasis, and leprosy. These diseases often receive less attention and funding compared to more widely known diseases, despite affecting hundreds of millions of people. NTDs can cause significant health problems, hinder economic development, and exacerbate poverty.
