Trichuriasis
Trichuriasis is an infection caused by the roundworm parasite *Trichuris trichiura*, commonly known as the whipworm. People usually become infected by ingesting eggs from contaminated soil or food. Once inside the intestines, the worms attach to the lining and can cause symptoms like abdominal pain, diarrhea, and in severe cases, anemia or growth delays in children. The infection is common in areas with poor sanitation. It’s treatable with antiparasitic medications, and prevention involves good hygiene, proper waste disposal, and safe food handling.
