Nasrid Kingdom of Granada
The Nasrid Kingdom of Granada was the last Muslim stronghold in Spain during the Reconquista, a centuries-long effort by Christian kingdoms to reclaim territory from Muslim rule. Established in 1238, Granada became a center of Islamic culture and learning. The kingdom thrived economically and artistically, known for the stunning Alhambra palace. However, it faced growing pressures from the increasing power of Christian states. In 1492, the Catholic Monarchs, Ferdinand and Isabella, captured Granada, marking the end of Muslim rule in Spain and completing the Reconquista, which altered the region's cultural and political landscape forever.
