Muhammad XII (Boabdil)
Muhammad XII, known as Boabdil, was the last king of the Muslim kingdom of Granada in Spain, ruling from 1482 until 1492. His reign marked the end of Muslim rule in Spain, concluding a centuries-long conflict known as the Reconquista. Granada fell to the Catholic Monarchs, Ferdinand and Isabella, in January 1492, leading to Boabdil's exile. He is often portrayed as a tragic figure, symbolizing the loss of an era, and his story highlights the cultural and religious clashes of that time. His surrender marked a significant turning point in Spanish history, leading to the establishment of a unified Spain.
