Medieval Siege Warfare

Medieval siege warfare involved attempts to capture fortified locations, usually castles or cities. Assailants employed various tactics, such as surrounding the site to cut off supplies, using siege engines like trebuchets to hurl projectiles, and constructing ladders or towers for scaling walls. Defenders fortified their positions with thick walls, moats, and strategic weapons. The objective was to either breach the defenses or starve the defenders into surrender. Siege warfare required meticulous planning, patience, and understanding of both military technology and psychology, often leading to prolonged and brutal conflicts.
