Lunar Prospector

Lunar Prospector was a NASA spacecraft launched in 1998 to explore the Moon. Its main goals were to map the Moon's surface, study its composition, and search for water ice in permanently shadowed craters. The spacecraft used various scientific instruments to collect data about lunar geology, gravity, and magnetic fields. Lunar Prospector's findings helped increase our understanding of the Moon's history and evolution. It operated until 1999, when it was intentionally crashed into the Moon to gather additional data, concluding its successful mission as an important part of lunar exploration efforts.
