Vladimir Lenin was a Russian revolutionary leader and the principal architect of the Soviet state. Born in 1870, he played a crucial role in the 1917 October Revolution, which overthrew the Russian monarchy and established a communist government. Lenin's ideology, known as Leninism, emphasized the need for a vanguard party to lead the working class in revolution and create a dictatorship of the proletariat. He served as the head of government until his death in 1924, implementing significant reforms that aimed to transform Russia into a socialist state, shaping global politics for much of the 20th century.
