War Communism
War Communism was a policy implemented by the Bolsheviks during the Russian Civil War (1918-1921), aimed at consolidating power and supporting the war effort. It involved nationalizing industry, requisitioning grain from peasants, and centrally controlling the economy. The goal was to ensure resources for the Red Army and maintain authority, but it often led to economic decline, shortages, and social unrest due to reduced incentives for farmers and workers. After the civil war, the policy was replaced by the New Economic Policy (NEP) to stabilize the economy.
