George B. McClellan
George B. McClellan was a Union general during the American Civil War, known for his organizational skills and leadership. He is most famous for commanding the Army of the Potomac early in the war. McClellan's cautious approach often led to missed opportunities in battle, notably during the Peninsular Campaign in 1862. This reluctance to engage decisively frustrated President Abraham Lincoln and others. McClellan was eventually removed from command, but he later ran for president in 1864 as a peace candidate. His legacy is mixed; he is remembered for both his military potential and his strategic hesitations.
