Gallic Wars

The Gallic Wars (58-50 BC) were a series of military campaigns led by Julius Caesar against various Gallic tribes in what is now France and Belgium. The primary goal was to expand Roman territory and assert control over the region. Caesar's forces faced fierce resistance but ultimately defeated the Gallic tribes, notably at battles like Alesia. These campaigns greatly expanded Roman influence and territory in Gaul and enhanced Caesar's political power in Rome. The wars are significant for their military tactics and Caesar's detailed reports, which provide insight into the conflict and the people of Gaul.
