Tunnelling
Tunneling in siege warfare refers to the practice of digging underground tunnels to undermine enemy defenses. Siegers would create these tunnels to secretly approach and collapse the walls of a fortified structure, or to allow their troops to enter the enemy position without being detected. This method provided a strategic advantage, as it could bypass walls and fortifications while minimizing direct confrontation. Tunneling was often used alongside other siege techniques, such as artillery bombardment, to increase the chances of success in taking a fortified location.
