Enzymatic Reactions

Enzymatic reactions are processes in which enzymes, which are special proteins, facilitate chemical changes in other substances, known as substrates. These reactions speed up vital biological processes, such as digestion and metabolism, by lowering the amount of energy needed to initiate the reaction. Each enzyme is specific to a particular substrate, much like a key fits a specific lock. This specificity ensures that the right reactions occur at the right time in our bodies, helping to sustain life by efficiently transforming food into energy, building cellular structures, and regulating various biological functions.
