Egyptian Numerals
Egyptian numerals were a system of counting used by ancient Egyptians, primarily based on symbols to represent different values. They employed distinct hieroglyphs for powers of ten: a single stroke for 1, a heel bone for 10, a coil for 100, a lotus flower for 1,000, a finger for 10,000, and a tadpole for 100,000. Larger numbers were created by repeating these symbols. Addition was the main method for expressing numbers, as multiplication and division were not formalized in their numeral system. This symbolic approach reflected their culture and was vital for trade, administration, and record-keeping.
