Fractions

A fraction represents a part of a whole. It consists of two numbers separated by a line: the numerator (top) indicates how many parts you have, while the denominator (bottom) shows into how many equal parts the whole is divided. For example, 3/4 means three out of four equal parts. Fractions can be used to measure, compare, and operate on parts of a whole, making them a versatile tool for understanding and working with quantities that are not complete units. Their key purpose is to accurately express parts of a larger set or quantity.
