Base 10, or decimal, is the numerical system most commonly used in everyday life. It is based on ten digits: 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9. Each position in a number represents a power of ten. For example, in the number 345, the '3' is in the hundreds position (3 x 100), the '4' is in the tens position (4 x 10), and the '5' is in the ones position (5 x 1). This system is intuitive for humans, as it aligns with our ten fingers, facilitating counting and calculations.
