dynastic cycle

The dynastic cycle is a historical pattern observed in many royal families and empires, particularly in China. It describes the rise and fall of dynasties over time. Generally, a dynasty begins with a strong leader who establishes peace and prosperity, gaining the people's support. Over time, corruption and incompetence may rise, leading to decline and unrest. Eventually, the dynasty loses the Mandate of Heaven—the belief that they had divine approval to rule. This results in rebellion or invasion, leading to the dynasty's fall, and a new dynasty emerges, starting the cycle anew.
