Emperor Gaozu of Han, born Liu Bang, was the founder and first emperor of China’s Han Dynasty, ruling from 202 BCE to 195 BCE. Originally a peasant and minor official, he rose to power through military skill and leadership during the collapse of the Qin Dynasty. He unified China after a period of civil war, establishing a centralized government and adopting policies that promoted stability and prosperity. His reign marked the beginning of one of China's most influential dynasties, which lasted over four centuries and laid important foundations for Chinese culture, government, and history.
