Charvaka

Charvaka, also known as Lokayata, is an ancient Indian philosophical school that advocates for materialism and empirical skepticism. It emphasizes direct sensory experience as the only valid source of knowledge, rejecting metaphysics and beliefs in the supernatural, such as karma and rebirth. Charvaka philosophers argue that pleasure is the highest good and that one should live a life based on rationality and enjoyment of the present moment. Their views contrast sharply with many other Indian philosophies that focus on spiritual practices and the search for ultimate truth beyond the material world.
