Baikonur Cosmodrome
Baikonur Cosmodrome is a space launch facility located in Kazakhstan. It was the world's first and is one of the largest spaceports, originally built by the Soviet Union in the 1950s. Baikonur is famous for launching the first human, Yuri Gagarin, into space in 1961. Today, it continues to be a vital site for space missions, including crewed trips to the International Space Station (ISS) and satellite launches. The cosmodrome is operated by Russia, and its strategic location allows for a variety of orbital trajectories for launching spacecraft.
