Roscosmos, officially known as the Russian Federal Space Agency, is responsible for Russia's space science and exploration efforts. Established in 1992, it manages the country's space missions, satellite launches, and research in space technology. Roscosmos oversees the operation of the Russian segment of the International Space Station (ISS) and has been pivotal in launching crewed missions to space. The agency aims to advance scientific knowledge, support industry, and promote international cooperation in space exploration, continuing Russia's legacy in astronautics dating back to the launch of Sputnik, the world’s first artificial satellite, in 1957.
