Salyut program
The Salyut program was a series of Soviet space stations launched between 1971 and 1986 aimed at scientific research, Earth observation, and human spaceflight experiments. These modular stations served as platforms for astronauts to live and work in orbit for extended periods, advancing space technology and understanding of long-duration space missions. The program included multiple station versions, some of which hosted crewed missions, while others were uncrewed for experiments. Salyut laid the groundwork for future space stations, demonstrating Russia’s capabilities in sustained human presence in space and contributing valuable data for international space exploration efforts.
